We’ve already seen some video from a pre-production Canon EOS 7D, but it looks like it’s hitting stores now, and this is the first video we’ve seen from a final retail unit. It’s genuinely impressive, especially since filmmaker Dan Chung says most of it was shot at 1600 to 6400 ISO, but it’s important to realize that he was also using some seriously expensive lenses, a specialized video viewfinder, a wide-angle mattebox to reduce lens flare, and a separate external microphone for audio. Was that enough responsible skepticism for you? Good, because we also think the 7D looks like it’s going to rock, and we can’t wait to try one out. Video after the break, along with a shot of Dan’s video rig.

The white plastic MacBook has been looking pretty lonely at the bottom of Apple’s lineup ever since all the unibodies went Pro, but we’d been hearing Apple had some grand plans for the low-end — and now AppleInsider says revised MacBooks in a thinner, sleeker shell have hit manufacturing and could launch “in the coming weeks” alongside that rumored iMac refresh. AI also says there are hints at a new-school integrated battery and a white plastic case, but we’ll see what happens — anyone think Apple might cut prices below $999?

Bluetooth fans will have been waiting for the Jabra Stone to appear, especially since it seems to be some kind of classy Bluetooth headset. That being said, we’re fairly sure that some people don’t like to be teased, and the folks over at CrunchGear got a little package from Jabra, and instead of a preview unit of sorts, they got a pretty stone, which is a little disappointing to be honest, especially since we’re all waiting to (officially) see what the headset looks like. Patience is needed at the moment, it seems.

While several shipping dates have come and gone, we’re still hopeful of seeing Garmin’s nuvifone in the flesh and on the street at some point in the future. If you’ve forgotten (and nobody would really blame you), the HSDPA, quad-band handset will boast GPS (of course), WiFi, Bluetooth, plus a full browser. The G60′s been available in Asia for some time now, and while a confirmed US launch has been much anticipated, no pricing has ever been announced. Rumors now abound that the device will carry a $300 price tag on contract, running about $550 without. Of course, it is just a rumor — and one that we hope is off base, too.

AMD might be enjoying the current position of its Radeon HD 5800 as the world’s only DirectX 11 supporting graphics card series, but it seems that NVIDIA is gearing up to release its GeForce GT300, the first NVIDIA graphics card to support DirextX 11, on 27th Nov. Even if schedules are delayed, it would probably be pushed back to December, which certain isn’t the end of the world. The graphics card battle certainly looks like it’s going to heat up again.

Most of you have probably already read of U2’s sponsorship by RIM, which is perfectly fine. That being said, you do have to feel for RIM a bit when the news breaks that Palm’s largest investor, Elevation Partners, grabbed another 2.2 million shares of palm for a total of $35 million, and in total owns about 42% of the company. That doesn’t sound like a big deal, until you notice that Elevation Partners’ managing director and co-founder is Paul David Hewson, whom you probably know better as Bono. Nothing scandalous to be honest, but still, you have to admit it probably feels a bit like being kicked between the teeth.

Apple and Palm have been playing a rather intriguing game of cat and mouse with iTunes and the Pre. The latest update indicates Apple has got a slight edge over Palm, especially since Palm was served a letter from the USB Implementers Forum, a group that oversees the standards for USB connections. It has decided that Palm is in violation of the group’s membership agreement because Palm was misrepresenting the Pre as an iPod in order to access iTunes. This news will probably come as a disappointment to the many Pre users who use iTunes, but we’re fairly sure some savvy person will find a proper workaround to this issue sooner rather than later. In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed!

We were already pretty sure that reports that Verizon was passing on the Palm Pre were unwarranted, but the rumors just keep coming. Now BGR is reporting that it’s confirmed — albeit through an unnamed source — that the carrier will in fact land the device. It’s all starting to seem like a non-starter of a story at this point, considering we sort of already knew the Pre was probably going to Verizon, but at least now we’re less unsure that it’s not not on its way, right? Right.

Look here, bub. Do you own an ATI Digital Cable Tuner? Has your Windows Media Center PC been waiting for a firmware update, since like, forever ago? If so, you should already know that SDV and Copy Freely support has been added to Windows 7 Media Center, which is the software coding equivalent of all of your dreams coming true. Of course, getting used to all this new functionality is a daunting task, but that’s why Engadget HD is breaking things down to make it fit for digestion. Ready to get schooled? Well, head on over!

So this is interesting: apparently Google’s hit the developer of the Cyanogen modded Android ROM with a cease-and-desist letter, asking him to stop distributing the closed-source Google apps like Gmail, Maps, and YouTube. What’s a little strange is that Cyanogen is targeted at “Google Experience” devices like the G1 and myTouch, so it’s not like Google is really protecting anything here — leading us to wonder if they’re just using the copyright argument to shut down a popular mod that’s tempted over 30,000 users into rooting their phones. That’s just speculation on our part, though — the dev says he’s trying to open a dialogue with Google, so perhaps we’ll find out some more answers soon.
