Dell has responded to rumors suggesting that it will co-announce something with google at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress. A spokesperson for Dell said that Dell won’t even attend the show (well, they don’t sell phones…) and has no products to announce there.
Observers point out that Dell did not say that it was not working with Google or that it does intend to enter the cellphones space. If you missed it, the rumor started in the UK when a magazine suggested that Dell would enter the cellphone space using the Google Android OS, rather than Windows Mobile

The FCC is on a roll this morning. It appears RIM has a Bluetooth music streaming device in the works, the BlackBerry Remote Stereo Gateway, and the device just got the A-OK from the FCC. The unit works pretty much exactly like you’d expect: you just pair your BlackBerry device with the Gateway, plug some speakers into the 3.5mm jack, and you’re off to the races. Music is in stereo, and while we’re guessing that means A2DP, there’s nothing in the user manual that indicates this is compatible with other types of phones. While RIM has been leaning this way for a while, it’s still odd to see the company produce something so overtly media-oriented, but we guess we’re just old fogies like that. No word on price or a release date.

Tidy, huh? If you’re an iMac or Apple Studio Display owner then you’ll see the immediate appeal of this LowKey Stand from Macessity. Constructed of 0.1085-inch thick steel “power-coated” to match your rig, it neatly hides your new slim Apple keyboard from view. There’s also a powered 4-port USB port up front which helps to offset the stand’s $60 price a tad.

Normally we’d let run-of-the-mill PMPs like Pasen’s F10 pass on by, but we just had to stop and call out the blatant use of both the iTunes and WMP icons here — even given Pasen’s history, that’s just a little much. Come on guys, the F10 looks like a solid little player — 2.6-inch 400 x 240 display, MP3 / AAC / FLAC / DivX / XviD / RMVB support, just 0.2 inches thick — why not actually try and let it compete, instead of saddling it with the trappings of irrelevant KIRFdom? Ugh, we have to go lie down.

The people from hyperexperience.com visited the Panasonic Center in Tokyo and noticed these solar and wind streetlights accumulate energy in a battery located at their base. At night, electricity from the battery and from the wind powers the light.
It’s neat!

WD’s Passport portable drive a bit too clunky for your tastes? We dig your style, and if you’re always looking for something sleeker and sexier, the new My Passport Essential is likely to satisfy — if only for a moment. Reportedly, these were tweaked to look more like the firm’s popular My Book family, and each one weighs in at less than five ounces. Available now in 160GB, 250GB and 320GB flavors, these USB-powered drives cap out at $199.99 and (for now at least) only arrive in the glossy black finish you see above.

If storage is more important to you than speed, there’s a 320GB hard drive from MCE technologies that might help. The performance is lower because the drive spins “only” at 5400rpm versus 7200rpm for faster laptop drives, or 15000rpm or more for desktop computers.
The real question that I have is this: would you bother to open your MacBook and change the drive yourself? I wonder if MacBook users shop a lot in the after market segment. Finally, there are plenty of other 320GB droves out there, but this one is marketed to the MacBook crowd.

If you’re like us, you’re sure to have fond memories of gathering around the radio in your jammies on Saturday morning and listening to the likes of Adventures in Odyssey and Life with Luigi; an experience that was only marred by the smell of your Dad’s rotting stereo speakers. Maybe that was just us? Well, perhaps you can learn to commiserate with this USB Aroma Radio + Speaker from Brando. It sounds a lot like that Aroma Geur radio we saw a while back, only it’s about $400 cheaper and probably much less likely to synchronize its aromas and LEDs to the music. You can also use the unit as a line-in speaker if you’ve had enough of radio — and who hasn’t.

Mini DV with Sporty Cam. A rather fetching 2–in-1 combo 5 megapixel DV camcorder with ‘night mode’ sports cam attached. Hey, and it’s an MP3 player too. Bonus! Just attach the sporty bit to your helmet and jump. Or crawl. Or hop or whatever. All while listening to your favourite sounds. […]
